THE HARVEL 5
Another impressive field again this year of both club and fun runners, with 439 runners crossing the finish line (Which we remembered to paint this year!). This number was down on last years when there were 508 finishers but the Harvel 5 was part of the Kent Grand Prix in 2004, but was up on 2003 when there were 380 finishers. Well done to Jonathan Holmans, Canterbury Harriers, for winning in an impressive time of 26:16, followed with an excellent performance by Anthony Forsyth in 26:39, winning his first trophy. (His race report) The first woman to finish was Andrea Pickup, Dulwich Runners, in 31:20. (The course record was not broken this year) The Harvel H3 H5 club record was broken this year by Sam Dyer in 29.15 finishing 18th overall. The clubs first female to finish was Kathy Herrington (AKA Token Totty) in 38.07. Even thou the course records were not broken this year, other category records were broken - new records as follows:- FV55+ Ros Tabor (Dulwich Runners) - 33.48 (Previous 41.12) JB - Lynton Lythgoe (Deal Tri) - 28.05 (Previous 31.45) JG - Elaine Murty (Dartford Harriers) 34.11 (Previous 35.24) (Sorry we gave the trophy to the wrong person, another one has been ordered !) This year was the first when we had team trophies, in both male & female teams Dartford Road Runners won, Harvel H3 managed 13, 22 & 24 places, not bad considering most of our runners were not running due to being involved in organising the event. Any feed back about the race would be gratefully received, so we can improve the race in future years. Please email the address at the top of the page. |
