6th Race -December 2008

The last round of the handicap saw the second largest field of the year set off into a bright, cold morning. The course was very muddy through the park and a little bit slippery on some of the roads. Club Skipper Titch led the way home with a PB of over two minutes to record her second win of the year. Jess (running name required !) avoided the handicapper to come in second, and a determined PB from Doggy claimed third on the day to ensure 2nd place overall. A good turnout on the day ensured an interesting race. It would be good next year if all handicap races were as well attended. The top three this year were the same as last year thanks primarily to the fact that they ran most or all races.   Well done to Nookie for this years organisation

5th Race-October 2008

It was on a wet, windy October morning that saw 5 brave souls leave the relative warmth and security of the Harvel Village Hall to battle the elements, clock and each other. Led by our own veritable "Captain Oates", aka Doggy, we splashed our way around avoiding spray from cars, people wielding umbrellas and as much mud as possible (not very successful on the last one, in fact gave up on that). Duracell held on at the end to keep a record breaking Gadge at bay to win by 8 seconds, setting a new PB of nearly two minutes in the process. Yours truly finished in the middle of the group breaking my PB by 3 seconds !! Phew. Landlord struggled around re-sampling the previous nights pasta for 4th, and on this occasion "Captain Oates" returned minus any frostbite to claim an injured 70 points which keeps him 2nd in the Table.

4th Race - August 2008

Round 4 saw some good runs by most runners, with 4 PB's out of the 7 runners who took part in some warm and sticky conditions despite the early morning shower. The highlight of which was a storming run from Gadge who broke the course record set by Mr Clean in Round 3, by over two minutes. Amazing what you can do when your relatively sober and you start on time !

3rd Race - June 2008

An excellent turnout for the 3rd race of the Handicap, with 11 runners setting out in good conditions. We finished with 12 runners, Duracell appeared halfway around the course. ???? 3 people appeared for the first time this season, taking 3 of the first 4 places, well done Big A for stopping a clean sweep. All the other runners produced PB's. A few changes next time on the Handicaps !! Many thanks to Titch for operating the stopwatch, a shame as she has now lost 1st place in the table. Yours truly heads the table but there is a large gathering just below, the odd place and PB could be crucial. Congrats to Jim for a new course record of 41.01 on his first outing. A wide awake, sober Gadge could give him a run next time.

2nd Race - April 2008

Titch followed up the enthusiasm showed on the start line to be the only PB on the day, all that marathon training put to good use for a short sprint. Everybody else suffered and struggled around. Apologies to Ironman from Nookie for nicking it on the line, but points are points and what do points win . . . . . . . .! Thanks to Patsy for operating the technical equipment, particularly after a heavy night.

1st Race - February 2008

Excellent turnout in cold windy conditions. The course measured 5.17 miles according to Doggies arm, and was pretty muddy in parts, the only thing missing was the flour and jelly babies (apart from those secreted in Spanner's pocket).
